Hotty Toddy

And no that's not my pet name for my boyfriend...

I found this recipe over at one of my favortie blogs poppytalk.  Is this wrong that I have been craving this and its not even close to lunchtime yet?  I think not.

Hot Chocolate Toddy

2 cups milk
1/3 cup dark or bittersweet chocolate wafers
pinch of salt
1 tablespoon vanilla (semi booze, awesome)
1 1/2 ounces of whiskey, bourbon or brandy (real booze, even better)

In a small saucepan, heat milk and chocolate over medium-high heat. Add in salt and vanilla and whisk until chocolate melts and the mixture gets hot.  Remove from heat and pour in the booze.  Divide into two large mugs and garnish with a cinnamon stick if you like (but I mean, really how many of us actually have cinnamon sticks lying around the house...unless you are Martha Stewart...or my Grandma)

This might just be my drink of choice this weekend.

New Read- Going all the Way

A couple of Sundays ago, as I was waiting for church to start, I was perusing the books out in the foyer that were recommended reading for everyone.  (ps. I started going with the bf to Life Church when I was in funky town...seriously look it up if you are interested in a church where the pastor is relateable, doesn't hold back, and challenges you every lesson.  Even if you don't reside around a Life Church campus, you can catch their live feed each Sunday and/or watch past sermons online.)

I just got this book in the mail today and I am super excited about what I might learn from this book.  The description of this book reads:

“Going all the way” used to mean getting what you want from the opposite sex now…and paying for it later.

It’s time to redefine.

Smart advice for a new generation about love, sex, and happily ever after.

You’ve seen marriages fail time and again. Even relationships you thought were bullet proof don’t last. Once promising couples dissolve in the acid of selfishness, conflict, or unfaithfulness… or fade away to a cold, gray lovelessness. No wonder that for our generation, “getting what you want” is often a substitute for love, and disillusionment about marriage is the new normal.

So what do you do if you want a marriage that doesn’t just survive, but thrives? That doesn’t just begin romantically but ends magnificently? Answer: You do something different.

Whether you’re thinking ahead to marriage, are about to be wed, or have been married for a while and want to make changes, this book can help. Going All the Way will guide you through the choices and commitments you need to make now in order to build a strong and vibrant relationship that will go the distance. In a world where going all the way means putting yourself first, author Craig Groeschel will show you how, by putting God first, you can build a soul-enriching, lifelong relationship.

With practical, candid discussions about sex, first dates, integrity, forgiveness, and communication, Craig will help you prepare for and experience a relationship that gives fresh, hope-filled meaning to “going all the way” with the one you love.

The best part about this book is that there is something in it for everyone, whether you are single, dating, married, etc.  I will definitely fill you in more after I finish reading it.

Jeffrey Campbell's Pixie Wedge Ankle Boot- My New Obsession

i was holding out a little for this shoe to come back in stock in my size.  i had almost given up hope, but i got an order in for my size. they were backordered for awhile, but hopefully i will be receiving a pair of these beauties sooner rather than later.

i am in love.

Coats, Coats, Coats

i love when the "seasons" change in stores.  its always way too early to coincide with the weather, but that just makes it easier to stock up on clothes when the sales hit.  i hadn't bought any new winter coats this year and i really had an itch for some new ones.  these are all from delia's and i hopefully will love each and everyone of them when i get them tomorrow!

New Fun Projects

last night i knitted a very simple headband...i will post a picture of all my projects soon.  these headbands above are a little inspiration for me to branch out a bit and try something a little more difficult...and obviously adorable!

this is my ultimate goal...the hooded scarf!  i tried to start this beauty a month or so ago...but i was discouraged because i was having issues from the beginning.  the dreaded buttonhole was not cooperating.  maybe i will scrounge up some courage to attempt this again soon!

and lastly....i WILL be making fingerless gloves at some point. my boy wants a pair for hunting...obviously i wouldn't choose the pink ones or the ones with bows for him :)
